Lecture -- The World is Open

Don't Miss This Event!!

What:  The World is Open -- Lecture by Prof. Curtis Bonk

When: Friday, Sept. 18, from 12:30-1:30, in room 1225 Education

The Armstrong Teacher Educator Program invites you to hear IU Prof. Curtis Bonk speak about his recently published book, The World is Open ( http://worldisopen.com/ ) -- about how e-learning has opened up the world of education.

Bonk’s book extends ideas from Thomas Friedman’s best seller The World is Flat (about business and commerce) into the world of education.  Bonk claims “anyone can now learn anything from anyone at anytime”  -- and he sets out to prove that assertion with a book full of fascinating stories and examples!

Bonk is much sought after as a lecturer and consultant around the world, so we are lucky to have found a time when he is actually in Bloomington and able to meet with us face-to-face!  But even though he’ll be with us in person, you can be sure we’ll see plenty of technology folded into his presentation.

To get to know Prof. Bonk a bit, visit his personal website at http://mypage.iu.edu/~cjbonk/ .  At that site, you can link to Bonk’s blog at http://travelinedman.blogspot.com/ or to any of a dozen other intriguing Bonk-related or Bonk-recommended sites.

Please forward this message to AIs and other graduate students.

Faculty and AIs — you can advertise this to your students.  Please send an email to atea@indiana.edu if us want us to prepare a sign-in sheet for your students, so we can let you know who attended.

This year’s seven Armstrong teacher educators (outstanding classroom teachers) will be attending the lecture.  We expect some lively discussion.
